Hi friend,

It's been a busy month at Hemingway.

Over the past few weeks, we've hosted events across five cities, published new reports, launched new member initiatives, and had some fascinating conversations ranging from deprescription to social media bans to crisis narratives.

I know it's impossible to keep up with everything these days, so I wanted to put the highlights into one short update. This email will catch you up on everything we shipped in June and what we’ve got coming up in the months ahead that might be of interest to you.

Before we dive in, one quick reminder: today is the final day to join Hemingway Pro and get 50% off your first three months.

As a Pro member, you'll join more than 450 people building the future of mental health, with access to our deep-dive research, expert sessions, member events, private Slack community, and much more.

What happened in June?

🕺Hemingway Members gathered for events in San Francisco, New York, London, Sydney and Chicago.

We consistently hear that people want more opportunities for in-person connection, and we’re continuing to double down on that through 2026. We now have Hemingway Chapters in London, New York, San Francisco and Sydney, with events being held in DC, Chicago and other cities around the world too.

📖 We published Deep-Dives on High-Performing Mental Health AI Teams and Aggregation Theory

  • How to Build a High-Performing Mental Health AI Team. This piece shares lessons from product and clinical leaders at Spring Health, Headspace, Grow, Slingshot and more, on how they're redesigning their teams to build mental health AI. Read it here.

  • Aggregation vs Interception. In the report, I discuss why no mental health marketplace has yet achieved true dominance and why the next big winners will be those who can organically aggregate demand, not just intercept it. This Hemingway Pro report is available for non-members to read until the end of this week. Read it here and join the discussion in our Slack group (available to Pro members).

📣 We ran Hemingway Sessions on product design and the Crisis Narrative of mental health.

  • How to Build the Right Thing in Mental Health: Product Design Principles in an Era of AI. Designer Hugo Welke shared three product-design principles for building successful mental health products in a world of AI.

  • Beyond the Crisis Narrative of Mental Health. Dr. Ben Locke shared his concept of the Crisis Narrative of Mental Health and why it’s pushing us towards reactive, short-term solutions. It’s a provocative concept that is worth understanding, and I’d encourage you to check out the recording if you didn’t get to attend the live Session.

Notes, recordings and suggested reading materials for all Sessions are available to members in the Hemingway Notion.

🎙️ We hosted discussions on social media bans and deprescribing

  • Social media bans for young people. Sparked by the UK’s plans to ban social media for under-16s (which will also age-gate romantic AI companions), members have been sharing their views and relevant research on this topic. Read the full thread and share your thoughts in the Slack thread (available to Pro members).

  • The deprescription narrative: Chris Appleton kicked off a great discussion on antidepressant de-prescribing and the growing narrative of over-medicalisation of mental health. Read the thread and share your own take (available to Pro members).

🤖 We created a Peer-Group for clinicians building in AI

Last month, we noticed that some community members wanted a space to chat with other clinicians working on mental health AI products. To facilitate this, we have created a confidential, supportive peer group within the Hemingway Community. This group (all clinicians working on mental health AI) will meet monthly to discuss the challenges they are facing and to offer support and advice.

Applications for this group are now closed, but if this peer group concept works well - which it looks like it will - we will look to create more role-focused groups like it in the future.

We completed the Hemingway Audience Survey (and learned a lot)

Many thanks to all of you who completed our H1 Hemingway Audience survey. This is an extremely important tool in helping us to measure our impact and to understand how to serve you, our audience, better. The main themes we heard from you were:

  • Overall, people find Hemingway content very useful in their roles. People love our weekly wrap-ups, so we’re now focusing on making them even more valuable to you. People also asked for more Deep Dives on specific areas of mental health innovation and guides around fundraising, GTM, reimbursement and other commercial challenges.

  • People want better ways to find and connect with each other. While many people have already found new hires, partners or investors through Hemingway, people asked for more. This could be through facilitated introductions or more networking events and we’re working on both.

  • Members love in-person events, but not everyone has access to them. As I’ve mentioned, we’re all in on in-person events, but we realise that we’re not in every city where our audience is — at least, not yet.

  • People want more information on what the Hemingway Community actually entails. For those who aren’t part of the community, we heard that many were interested in joining but weren’t sure exactly what it was about. Hopefully, this email helps shed some light on what it means to be part of this growing community.
